Almost done. . .

I'm pretty excited to be almost done with my lacy crosses. I counted the squares last night and realized I had one more than I thought - I'm on 25/28 now. Yay! I've gotten pretty fast at making them, so hopefully by this afternoon I'll be done. Then it's on to my pink squares - Alhambra. I'm not looking forward to those - I tried to make one about a week ago, when I was getting tired of green, and failed miserably. I'm missing a step somewhere. I think I've gotten good enough at interpreting patterns/looking at pictures to figure out where I keep screwing up, but I just haven't dedicated the time to it yet. I'm sure once I get it going I'll fly through all 28 of those squares just like I did the lacy crosses.
I'm already excited for my next project, too. I've never used circular knitting needles OR dpns, and the hat I want to make requires both. I found some Thick & Quick on clearance at Michael's yesterday. It's not the greatest color, but I figured it would be good to learn on, that way when it is all misshapen and full of mistakes, I won't be annoyed. Then I'll get a better color (or yarn, even!) and make it again for real. I think it is going to be a good idea to try big dpns with big yarn first, then I'll be ready to attempt socks. I want to spend the whole summer knitting socks, crocheting sweet afgans, and basically playing with yarn. The joy of being a teacher :)
